SEQUOIA NATIONAL FOREST

"Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out going to the mountains is going home; that wilderness is a necessity..." — John Muir

The area surrounding Sequoia National Park is beautiful!  It was a such a nice day to visit the forest.

Such a beautiful bridge!

Of course I am smiling, I have no reason not to!

Big trees is an understatement!

It is impossible to describe or photograph these Sequoias. They take your breath away!

You would never know there was a heat-wave going on in California because today there was snow on the ground in Sequoia National Forest.

This is some green moss that grows on some of the trees in the forest. It was very pretty.

You can see how big the tree is because it makes me look so small (anything that makes ME look small has got to be be big!).

These trees are just so amazing!

The car going by makes you realize how tall these trees are.

I expected to see some Hobbits coming out of this tree!

Like everywhere else, pretty flowers!

This was a waterfall in the forest.

The snow-capped mountains were beautiful.

After driving 2 hours in the forest, you get to this spot. You hike down about 10 miles (give or take) to "The Earth's Biggest Tree" - the General Sherman Tree. I might be inclined to challenge that biggest tree claim. It didn't look that big to me. Pretty, yes, but the biggest tree? I don't know about that.

This is what is supposed to be the biggest tree on Earth.

Something about this hug trunk is what makes it the biggest.

Me and General Shermam.  (I am in good company!)
