OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK

All day was spent in the Olympic National Park today. I started up 101-north and came upon this spectacular view of the beach. I was standing on a cliff.

This was a whale very close to the shore. Not sure if it was a gray whale or blue whale.

Just so you don't think I was taking a picture of a log in the water, I got this pic of his blowhole.

He didn't come up fully out of the water.

Look carefully at the pic. At the upper right is the fin of the whale. In the front of the picture, a little to the left, is a seal.

This was a sea otter floating on his back. You can see his face and little feet sticking out of the water.

Nice view!

Next was a visit to the Hoh Rainforest. I hiked the Hall of Mosses Trail.

This was a funny picture - Moss was covering the phone booth.

The hike was beautiful. The air was clean and smelled good.

There was a stream with crystal-clear water.

A little tiny tree growing out of the base of the parent tree.

Ferns and plants were abundant.

So was the moss - it covered everything.

This was a uniquely formed set of trees.

Pretty little flowers were all over the rainforest.
